Catholic Canada Flag Etiquette? by KeswickPinhead Catholic Canada Flag Etiquette? by KeswickPinhead
I remember when the US Marines raised the Canadian Flag UPSIDE-DOWN during the World Series (of Baseball).
I can remember how OUTRAGED Canadians were by this disgusting 'prank'.
I remember my bullshit detector going off when the Marines claimed it was merely a mistake.

This is the flag flying from the flagpole above Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School, it's been like this for at least two days.

When military types fly a flag upside-down, it is a sign of distress, an indication that all is NOT well.

There are rules to how you display the symbol of our country, and the Catholic School Board are NOT obeying them.

Every Canadian should be INSULTED by this unpatriotic disreguard for our flag.

The Catholic School Board SHOULD be setting an example.
They SHOULD be teaching children civility and ethics, but this?
This teaches kids that it's OK to be rude and disrespectful...

UPDATE: As of yesterday, Friday April 19th, the Catholic School Board has still not addressed this insult to Canada.
That's at least four days that YCDSB has thumbed their noses at the country and province that funds them.

UPDATED UPDATE: It took the Catholic School Board at least four days to do the right thing, and fix the flag that was not being flown correctly.
Not that those four days are not a disgraceful amount of time to leave our flag looking that way, but, comparatively speaking, this is lightning speed for YCDSB.
If only they would address the lies spewed by their staff as quickly.

Really, this is horrible. Some people are so dumb . Like the guy I saw who took my national flag and used it as a loin cloth, I was pissed.

The flag is *not* upside down in that picture. It was attached correctly, however, the bottom part has come unfastened.

One day of that would be fine. When I was a child in school, the Janitor would raise the flag in the morning, and lower it in the evening before going home. It was done with pride and care.
They have no pride, show no care, and they left it like this for at least four days. It could have been more.
It's disgraceful.

lol that's a first I've seen a flag put up upside down. I find it more funny than insulting to be honest.

I can remember an American, here on dA, talking about going to war with Mexico because a Mexican national flew an American flag upside down.
I asked him if the American Marines flying the Canadian flag upside down was similarly a cause for war.
No answer.

lol yeah some of those extreme patriotic americans just go overboard on certain things its both silly and sad. I think if I remember correctly there was some sort of minister in the states that actually made Russia not ship some commodity to us nor the states due to their sour relationship between them and the states and the fact we are allied with them. It's funny how some idiots can cause commotions like that, especially if they're in some position of power, like Bush for example. At least America has Obama instead of that idiot Bush.

I bet if someone hung an upside-down cross on their front porch, they would notice THAT

Now THAT is an incredibly valid point. Thank you. Going to use that one in a tweet.
I'm going to retweet this picture every day until they rectify this issue. As of last evening, they had not.
I've been called a scoundrel on fb for suggesting that this is unpatriotic. :D
Devastating. :giggle:

It looks like it's only tethered by one corner as well.
KeswickPinhead Featured By Owner Apr 17, 2013   General Artist
Yes. It wasn't actually raised up the pole upside-down, but because it's not properly tethered, the result is the same.
The flag should be flown intact and upright, and it should never touch the ground at any time.
If it's frayed, it should be burned and replaced.
Those are the rules.
Nobody, including the Catholic School Board, is above those guidelines. No PATRIOTIC Canadian should disobey those rules.
