I looked out my front door this morning and this is what I saw. We are in a record breaking year for snow. The streetlight casts a dim light as the sun rises making the snow drifts look blue and purple.
This is what it looked like the next summer [link]

yikes i can see why you were talking about shoveling!? :faint: this is a lovely shot to SEE (tho i don't envy the being there! one of my first thoughts is $! for the heat...) ... well, those of us in warmer climes will have to keep the spring blossom shots coming!

Please. It's a case of 'Always greener on the other side of the fence'.
I like to see whats NOT happening here. hee hee. Wait till you see the piles of snow NOW, unbelievable. Recharging Camera Battery.

do things stop?! or does life go on... kids go to school tomorrow? about a mo ago we had a couple inches (sunny calif) and school shut down, all sorts of car accidents/incidents ... nobody has any chains! or if we do, we sure don't want to put them on! *.* look 4wd to seeing more shots... there is a beauty to the deangularization of it all!

The Kids are off on March Break, so plenty of snow for them. No snow days this week, this winter they have had 4 snow days...so far.
Not allowed to use chains or studded tires, or salt on the road. They use sand and everyone has snow tires.
A lot of people have the big 4 wheel drive things, you actually need them here sometimes. Snow in the back yard is 3 ft deep.

It is a strangely lovely shot - looks almost like asian mountains in the mist. But I can appreciate the frustration with the white stuff, and the silent F would certainly include a well-placed epithet and "...not again!!"

It is very pretty from a distance, though... like on the other side of the country. :)
:iconkeswickpinhead:
Yes that Silent F has been muttered about here last night and this morning.
I view a lot of people who are 'tortured with the heat', I look at their pictures, they look at mine, so that works.
I'm glad to get enjoyment out of the white frozen stuff, it's not like it's going anywhere soon.
We are getting to the point of the season where I walk out on to the lake.
I like to do that at least once a year,
to say I walked on water, albeit frozen.

This is perhaps the most beautiful snow picture you've done yet. No manipulation--just letting the natural colors do all the magic.

*sigh* I'd give anything to be there. TT_TT

It is beautiful...I had a friend from Trinidad, when he saw some woman
he would say " She nice from far, but far from nice".
Kinda describes the way I feel about Winter.
:iconcyh-anide:
o.o That's an awesome quote. Though...I love winter like a long lost friend. It's probably 'cause I live so far from it. When I tell people here that I wish it would snow, these insane natives give me the hairy eyeball like nobody's business. *laugh* We think each other mad when, in reality, we're all stark raving sane.
