Powerful Crack

Description

It's hard to imagine the force necessary for a chunk of ice weighing 100 kilos to be hefted up from the surface, only to be held there by a column of ice less than a foot thick.
I did NOT pile the ice with the sun directly above it. That was the power of the pressure.
Seeing the thickness of this ice, and the stuff unaffected by the pressure crack, made me even more certain that I'm relatively safe going out there right now.
Not that this couldn't happen again, given the right conditions....but those conditions were decidedly NOT the case when I took these pictures.
It...was......COLD.
Trucks and wooden huts out there, it's unlikely that little old me is gonna get a 'soaker', or worse, on a day like that.
I'd hate to be beside the crack when it happens though, closest call for me was when I was about twenty yards from a pressure crack, and the noise just about scared the shit out of me.
