Success/Failure... who cares...It's in the TRYING.How many times do artists hear those words?
Worry over survival IS a serious issue, but really, it's one that no longer applies to me...my plans, dreams, and back up plans have all gone...quite literally...up in smoke.
What I do on dA and Twitter, is what I should have done my whole life.
Art.
Comedy.
Horticulture.
Photography
and so on....
I may have started late, but, at LEAST, my niece, and nephews can say I TRIED.
If things go well, fine, but if it remains the same....that's fine too.
I AM an Artist.
If I'm a FAILED artist, so be it, but I AM an ARTIST.
The kids won't have to say "You know, my Uncle, he had something there, but he just didn't follow through" or "he dreamed of it, but he never did anything to achieve his goals"
...and maybe....just MAYBE, they won't feel the fear of DECLARING themselves to be Artists, should that be their dream.
I'm thinking a little POSITIVITY could rub off.

It is a big thing to declare yourself to be an artist....I still won't.....I'm a retail manager who draws.......if I can make some money for it...I will call myself an artist.
But like you say....it's the commitment and the effort that is the most important factor!!

Just always follow your dreams
I admire your creativity, productivity and works alot. There are not many artist that are so allround as you.
And I really mean that!! You can make art of anything..........!! It is a superb quality!!
You are Sculpting, making photo's, superb fruit art, riddles, you write, etc etc..
And I could go on and on.
So really, you don't have to prove anything. You and your works speaks for themself.
In my opion, That is what good art is suppose too be. YOU ARE A TRUE ARTIST TO ME..

I spent a long time COMPARING myself to other artists.
Because they had superiour skills in other areas, I gave up on what I could do.
Thing is...so did the folks I gave up because of...as much as I try to convince ONE of these talented artist to THIS DAY.
She's a Lawyer now...but I tell you, she is SO talented, it made me want to give up drawing.
I've come to peace with my limitations now....I can't do realistic drawing to save my ass. But I HAVE ARTISTIC TALENT, and I don't think it's bragging to say it.
I get told, daily, that what I do is special...and not just on-line, for my garden too.
Hearing it from you, however, means a GREAT deal to me.
I obviously wouldn't be even mentioning this in my journal, if I didn't have my doubts...but full steam ahead, damn the slanderous torpedoes.
