A visit from another Town Bureaucrat

Mon Jun 15, 2009, 8:26 PM
Well, boys and girls, Robert Fortier, Operations Manager,
came by today, after a heated phone conversation with me,
that was going nowhere.
He had NO idea about the FACTS on the ground,
so I welcomed him out to SEE with his OWN EYES
what he was condemning without knowledge.
But NOT before he fell into the traps I set.
I asked him if it HAD to be grass on the boulevard.
"Yes" was his unequivocal answer.
"Well, you better get busy, cleaning up YOUR OWN mess, then, all the ragweed, goldenrod, dandylions, and clover".
"Oh....no...it has to be low lying GROUND COVER" said the backpeddalling bureaucrat.
"That's what I've got there NOW" I responded.
So, out he came, to see for himself.
After a conversation that was NOT what I'd call a total waste of time, we reached an agreement about what needed to be done, and what SHOULDN'T have been done in the first place...on BOTH sides.
I had ALREADY removed one of the shrubs, which I was already planning to move, and have also removed a portion of a rock garden.
I have given my WORD that I will address all issues of sightline and safety.
I asked why the town didn't seem to care about safety and sightline down on Metro Road, where the weeds were five feet high.
He responded that, if it was an issue I could complain.
"So, you only do your job, when someone complains....well, that doesn't seem to be terribly SAFE".
I'd like to add, that like his analogy of a child being hit because of MY garden, I'm sure the mother of a dead child would be consoled by the words "Well, you should have phoned about the job we didn't do BEFORE your child was run over".
I didn't get Bob Fortier's word that he would
PUNISH Tushar Patel, Civil Technologist,
who rudely accused me of countless infractions
that were all bullshit.
I didn't get his word that he would look into the Bureaucrat
who told me the road was Assumed, when it wasn't.
Caught them claiming BOTH things.
It's Assumed, if that suits their argument...apparently.
Even though I didn't get his word, you can be assured I will be checking to see that those who tried to lie about me will be reprimanded.
Don't think your off the hook YET, Bob...
Do your fucking job, and admonish those who didn't do theirs.

Tied him in knots with his own words.
I've been expecting a visit, so I was prepared.
I never would have started the garden out there, on public space, if I hadn't checked the LAW first.
They're not even FAMILIAR with the law they claim to be enforcing, let alone adhering to it themselves.
