A pharmacist is charged with selling narcotics without a prescription, and that made it to the front page of the Georgina Advocate.
Not the conviction of a pharmacist on those charges, just the fact that YRP laid those charges.
I always advise awaiting the results from court, innocent before a presumption of guilt, and all that good stuff.
But this front page story got me thinking about other assertions made by cops working in York Region.
"Law enforcement" officer Mack* George (badge no. 1691) once told me, as we stood on the driveway you see him pictured on below, that he had arrested a man riding a bike around town naked.
Then he asked me if I was recording the conversation. You should have seen the relief on his face when I told him I wasn't.
I think it was pretty clear that he was spinning yarn, telling tall tales, spouting pure bullshit.
I have to assume that this story that 'constable' George spun was a LIE, because it was never reported in the Georgina Advocate.
He was trying to justify his colleague, 'detective' Peter Duguay's question to me: "What's this I hear about you riding around town wearing nothing but a thong?"
A query that makes me laugh to this day.
Again, charges against a pharmacist, front page.
A naked guy riding around town on a bike, zero words, no articles.
Not only that, but no gossip among the neighbours...almost as if this incident was pure fiction.
Of course, I will make sure that YorkRegion.com is aware of what I am saying. I want them to tell me that, no, the YRP officer in the photo above did not lie to my face.
If they don't have record of this incident he spoke of, and the police won't talk about Mac George's claim, then it puts into question EVERY OTHER statement YRP make and the Georgina Advocate reports, doesn't it?
Just because York Regional Police laid some charges....
Just because the Georgina Advocate reports that someone has been charged....
....it doesn't mean the person they've accused is guilty.
UPDATE:
I want to see the evidence for myself, experience has taught me not to trust the police and press to tell the whole truth.

UPDATE:
The Poop On The Pharmacist BustSo, I've now heard some of the back-story to the arrest and charging of a pharmacist here in Keswick, some credible accounts of people who know inside dirt on others being charged, as well as some information on the actual searches that were done.
I won't go into details, that's for the court to decide.
Suffice to say that I still don't think he's the monster being portrayed by some, and some of the charges are unlikely to stick.
But, as my source told me, "You won't see that guy again", meaning his days of being a pharmacist are probably done, and he may get some jail time, if convicted.
I liked the guy....such a shame.
I want to see the evidence for myself, experience has taught me not to trust the police and press to tell the whole truth.

Journalism is hard, just ask Tracy KibbleHere is a hopefully still ongoing exchange between the Editor of the Georgina Advocate, Tracy Kibble, and I.
This is the e-mail I sent to get the conversation started:
Have you been following the ball ban story coming out of Toronto, Tracy?
Here is today's journal entry, entitled 'Give me balls or give me death'
I find it fascinating how some media deal with officials who overstep their authority in OTHER parts of Canada.
This brave approach is sadly lacking here in Keswick.
Your silence emboldens criminals in positions of power.
Saying nothing ensures there will be more corruption in Georgina.
"You can take our balls but you can't take our freedom" - Student at Earl Beatty School
"Just go the other fucking way" - "Constable" David Flood, explaining why Canada's Charter of Rights and Privileges are merely an option for York law enforcement officers.

Why does Advocate FEAR the Truth?I posted the comment below this paragraph after a story about a ruling by the Ontario Press Council was published in the Georgina Advocate. http://www.yorkregion.com/news/article/1227837--press-council-dismisses-police-complaint
The Georgina Advocate removed the comment, and changed the settings so nobody could contradict their biased take on the ruling....
Here is the opinion they were so frightened you might read that they deleted it, and curtailed any further public dissent:
"We still have a right to hear the full story, reguardless of what yorkregion.com believes is appropriate.
When Constable Styles was asked what happened, he chose to say "it's a long story".
Idolizing and justifying ANYONE who conceals the truth is no longer something I consider wise, after enduring repeated lies, slander, and harassment from YRP cops.
We the people, have a right to know ALL that transpired
They want you to remain IGNORANTThe York Regional Police Budget is being negotiated in secrecy.
One of every three tax dollars spent in York Region goes to the police.
Regional Councillor Danny Wheeler is quoted as saying "an open budget process will arm criminals with information about the operations of a police force" http://www.yorkregion.com/news/article/1274394--secrecy-shrouds-police-budget-process
When GARBAGE theories like this are floated by Danny Wheeler and other law enforcement apologists, I am compelled to respond.
This is an INSULT to the citizens of York....but let's extrapolate, and take it to it's illogical conclusion anyway, shall we?
- Teaching children to read will almost certainly arm some future criminals with information.
- Freedom of speech will arm criminals with information.
Should we burn books and close libraries and schools too, Danny?
Perhaps the public shouldn't have access to the inter
Twirly For Santa
It's too early for Santa, so the sounds I hear coming from my roof must be the roofers removing the old shingles.
New roof, the next four hours or so will be filled with the sound of the nail gun.
Then it's peace on roof, goodwill to Santa's new landing strip.
Here is a photo of the old roof, taken seven years ago. Thankfully we don't have snow like this right now.
Physically Impossible For Someone To Go 12 Days?
"A lot of people are saying it's physically impossible for someone to go through twelve days" said Trump cryptically on his return from Asia.
So true, there's never been, say, a song written about twelve days of Christmas, has there?
I'd wish everyone Season's Greetings, but like a lot of people, I'm exhausted after going through twelve days. :sarcasm:
Trump can't keep up with the mass shootings
Donald Trump is too lazy to type individual condolence tweets for the mass shootings that occur on his watch.
He cuts and pastes, but he was also too lazy to change the name to the latest mass murder that occurred on his watch.
Sad, and indicative of the reality of America, right now.
Far from making anything safe, the number of mass murders seem to be increasing under the Trump administration.
But hey, Trump says we can all safely say 'Merry Christmas' again, so there's that...
Update: Trump has deleted the tweet twice now, trying to get it right, and failing. https://twitter.com/kibblesmith/status/930759806276853761
Sightline My Eye
A few days ago, my eighty four year old mother got a note by our door, instructing her to pick up a Registered Letter from Georgina Township.
She had to travel to the other end of town to pick it up.
"This notice is to inform you that the Roads Division has identified a sightline issue at 2 Kerfoot Crescent" says the letter.
This so-called 'Sightline issue' was frivolous waste of taxes.
Roads Superintendent Scott Edwards blamed the issue on "the student".
The problem?
Siberian Irises.
They are not a sightline issue. Nor was the "grass high" at any time in the summer, as Scott Edwards also tried to suggest.
Even so, I told Scott Edwar
